On Thursday, May 15, 2008, the Teen Advisory Board of the Welles-Turner Memorial Library will be hosting its fourth annual Teen Film Festival. If you are interested in submitting a video to the film festival, please look at the submission guidelines below. These are also available in the Teen Room at the library. Tell your friends!
Welles-Turner Memorial Library Teen Film Festival: Rules for Submission
Open to students in grades 7-12 in the Greater Hartford area.
Movies must be:
a.) maximum of 10 minutes long
b.) suitable for placement in the Teen Room video collection
c.) submitted on DVD (preferably) or full-size video tape
Movies cannot be derogatory or offensive to a person or group of people based on sexual orientation, gender, race, or religion.
Writer(s), director, and editor(s) must be in grades 7-12.
Movies that do not follow guidelines will be automatically disqualified.
Five movies for each age group (Grades 7-9 and 10-12) will be selected to be shown on May 15. In the event that more than five submissions are submitted in each age group, a preliminary round of judging will narrow them down to five. In the event that fewer than ten pieces are submitted, all may be shown.
The Committee reserves the right to select additional videos in one age category if fewer than three are submitted in the other age group. A maximum of ten will be shown.
Movie may be built around any theme and use any presentation style (live action, animation, etc.)
Submit movie to: Film Festival Committee c/o the Children’s and Teen Services Department of Welles Turner Memorial Library by May 5 at 9:00 P.M. Include a label with: title of work, names of production staff, length, age category (based on majority of production staff), contact person, and phone number on label. DVD/video will become property of Welles-Turner Library.
Prizes will be awarded for Best Film and Viewers’ Choice in both age groups. All movies shown will be compiled into a DVD to be added to the Teen Room video collection and may be shown on Pass It On (local cable access program).
