Young ArtistsPreschool Art Show

Who: Children and adults of all ages
When: March 1-31, 2015
Time: During regular library hours
Place: Children's Department

The Children’s Department will be bright spot during this long winter as host to the 27th Annual Preschool Art Show. The teachers at the Glastonbury preschools and day care centers select from the many creative artworks by their students to fill the walls throughout the month of March.

Young children learn from the process of doing art. They develop self-confidence and learn to make decisions when they decide how they want to finish their work. Fine motor skills are developed when they scribble, smear, push, pound and squeeze art materials - paint, brushes, different kinds of paper, crayons, glue, markers, clay, scissors, fabrics, finger paint and more. Children also learn important concepts such as the alphabet, shapes, colors, textures, sizes and numbers. Some art work features the seasons; others are based on a story the children have read together. Come visit the “mini-museum” of amazing art! Here is a preview of what you will see ...
