Come and enjoy the work of Glastonbury's youngest artists! These art works created by children in nursery schools, preschools, home day care, and child care centers will be on display in the Children's Department from March 1-March 31.
Join us for a half-hour of stories that are just right for sending you to sleep with pleasant dreams.
Enjoy a low-tech, high-participation storytime that's fun for the whole family. (Adults, please turn off your cell phone and join in the fun with your kids!) This program will be offered the second Saturday of each month October-May.

Joyce Stengel: St. Patrick and the Three Brave MiceGlastonbury author Joyce Stengel will share her book along with fun facts about the holiday when everyone is a wee bit Irish. Volunteers will perform a readers' theater version of the tale.
Nursery rhymes and songs for little ones from the comfort of your lap. Short rhymes, songs, finger plays, and books introduce babies to the wonders of language. Parents will enjoy sharing familiar songs and learning new rhymes. Repetition and simple actions help babies to recognize the songs as you make them part of your daily routine. Please consult with the Children's Librarian if you wish to bring an older sibling.
Spring Session
A fun, interactive, age-appropriate introduction to early math concepts using children’s literature. You must commit to all three dates in the series. Please note that Count Me In, Too is a continuation of Count Me In.

Creating these paper lilies doesn't require a green thumb - just the outline of your hand.
You and your teddy bear (or favorite stuffed animal) will enjoy bedtime stories and a snack. Then kiss your bear goodnight and settle it down for an overnight at the library. Join your bears for breakfast the next morning to see what adventures they had during the night. Children must be able to attend on both dates.
The Welles-Turner Memorial Library offers a six-week storytime session for children in the fall, winter, and spring. The storytimes for each age group are designed to be appropriate for the different stages of children's development. The age groups are arranged so that children will be with others who will be entering kindergarten the same year. Storytimes are not held during school vacations.
The Spring Storytime session will run from March 29-May 14. Forms will be accepted beginning March 11 for Glastonbury residents any time during library hours. All registrations will be processed randomly on March 17. Children who were not in the Winter session will be given preference over those who were. Confirmations will be sent upon completion of registration. Non-Glastonbury residents may register for remaining spaces beginning Friday, March 19. Complete details will be available after February 15.
A birth certificate or other document with the child's birth date must be presented at the time of registration for first-time participants.
You may choose to receive your confirmation letter by email or you may provide a self-addressed stamped envelope. Registration will not be accepted without one of the above.
Space in each class is limited. Classes may be combined or cancelled due to low enrollment. Children placed on the waiting list will receive priority during registration for the next session. A new registration form must be submitted at that time.
A child may register for only one storytime.
Exceptions based on child's age may be made in consultation with the Children's Librarian if spaces remain on January 13.

This lap sit program for ages 15-24 months introduces children and their parents or care givers to books, nursery rhymes, finger plays, bounces, and songs. Our goal is to foster an early love of books and to remind parents of the importance of reading to children.
This group meets for approximately thirty minutes in the Children's Program Room. Parents and caregivers actively participate in all activities, so dress comfortably. You will be sitting on the floor with your child on your lap. In order to devote full attention to your child, no siblings, please.
Side-by-Side is an interactive program for two-year-olds and their parents or caregiver. Parents are active participants in the circle games, finger plays, action rhymes, and stories. The program allows the child a half-hour of one-on-one sharing with the parent in a group setting. In order to make this a special time for you and your child, no siblings, please.
Children must have been born in 2007 to register for this program. Children with birthdays in January, February, or March 2007 may register for Smart Start I if they have already attended Side-by-Side and are comfortable without a parent present. This program is for children born in 2006. The program is designed as a child's first experience in a group setting without an adult. This thirty minute program introduces children to classic picture books and fun stories. Finger rhymes, flannel boards, songs, action rhymes, and other related activities are designed to foster pre-reading skills. It is designed as a child’s first experience in a group setting without an adult. Children under three who are not comfortable without a parent present should register for Side-by-Side. This program introduces older preschoolers to longer, more detailed books. Children are encouraged to participate in finger rhymes, songs, and flannel board activities featuring early literacy activities as they gain confidence in a group setting without a parent present.
This program is for children born in 2004 or 2005 who are NOT enrolled in Kindergarten. Children under four who have not been in previous storytimes may register for Smart Start Storytime I. See above for registration details.
This thirty minute storytime allows two or more siblings to attend the same program. You and your children will actively participate in stories, finger rhymes, songs, and flannel board stories. The children must not be enrolled in kindergarten and at least one must have been born between 2004-2006 or January, February, and March 2007. Please note: all children born within the age range (2004-2006) must be registered following the procedure above. Children may be registered for Family Storytime or an individual storytime, but not both.
Kids in grades 4-6 are invited to join the Nutmeg Club. Members will be encouraged to read all ten of the nominees and participate in monthly book discussions and other activities based on the books.
